King of Sweden

The King of Sweden has officially opened the Herting River Restoration project at Falkenberg (Sweden). Symbolically he released young salmon today. The ultimate goal is that salmon, eel, sea lamprey and other species can migrate freely again in the River Atran. The King was proud of what is achieved by the Municipality of Falkenberg and this project is an international example of river restoration and creating free passage for fish. Herman Wanningen presented the plans for the World Fish Migration Day 2014 on behalf of the partnership with Freshwater Fish Specialist GroupWorld Wildlife Fundand The Nature Conservancy. This location will be one of the events on the WFMD on the 24th of May.
