Temperature surface water increases
That the climate is changing, we know. The consequences for water policy in the Netherlands and are getting better known and studied. The study focused only on the problems in the main water system, such as increasing sea level, the drainage pattern of the great rivers and the lack of sufficient fresh water. The changing climate also has implications for regional water management. Commissioned by the Province of Drenthe is one aspect of which examined: the warming of surface water in Drenthe and its impact on water quality and ecology. For this study, time series of surface temperature from 1974 were statistically analyzed. The water temperature in Drenthe increased on average with 1.5 degrees Celsius. The study was conducted by Wanningen Water Consult, Consultant and Torenbeek Koeman and Bijkerk BV.
